Information regarding Speedway Training Schools
SCUNTHORPE SPEEDWAY
TRAINING TRACK DETAILS Scunthorpe Speedway's 92-metre mini-track was built inside the stadium grounds in the summer of 2007 and has proven to be an extremely popular addition. Its size makes it ideal for smaller engined bikes (e.g. 125cc, 250cc) and is an excellent introduction to art of sliding. Already riders have progressed to the National League, British Under-15 championships and the club's amateur meetings, whilst many other users are fans of all ages, from all over the country, who want to experience the sport in relative safety. There are a variety of ways to ride the mini-track.
WAYNE CARTER TRAINING SESSIONS From the early days former Scorpions' Captain Wayne Carter has run regular Saturday afternoon sessions (12-4pm). The sessions, which need to be booked in advance can be arranged by contacting Richard Hollingsworth (see details below) and are open to riders who need to hire the club's bikes and those with their own machinery. The price of the sessions is £70 (including tuition, bike use and equipment hire) or £25 for riders with their own bikes. Typically sessions run every fortnight but occasionally a session will be fully booked by a single group. For more details please check out www.scunthorpespeedway.com/mini.php
OPEN PRACTICE ON MAIN TRACK Throughout the year there are regular practice sessions on the club's 285-metre main track with its airfence. Riders of all ages, abilities and confidence levels are welcome to attend and the club take great care to ensure that riders are grouped appropriately. Bookings aren't necessary but track/weather updates are available by phoning the number below. No licenses of any description are required to practise with free day licences available on the day. For more details please check out www.scunthorpespeedway.com/practice.php
AMATEUR MEETINGS ON MAIN TRACK Ever since January 2008 the club have run regular amateur meetings. They are usually run about every four week and there are three adult classes (Open, Support and Novice) which allow National League riders down to raw beginners to compete with riders of a similar ability and three youth classes (500cc, 250cc and 125cc). The meetings are open to everyone and once again entrants don't need any licences but can complete a free day licence on the day. Regular riders can also compete for the Summer Championship and Winter Series in each class and more details can be found at www.scunthorpespeedway.com/amateur.php CONTACT DETAILS For Wayne Carter Training Sessions, corporate days, open practice and amateur meetings please contact Richard Hollingsworth (richard@scunthorpespeedway.com or 07832-402167).
