The Fours is one of Britain’s longest established meetings, having been launched at King’s Lynn in 1976 when Newcastle came out on top.
The championship moved to the East of England Showground in 1977 and that became its regular home (with the exception of 1987) right through until 2002 when it was switched to Coventry.
It returned to Alwalton in 2007 – when the Isle of Wight were crowned champions – but the last two finals have been held at Workington’s Derwent Park where the home side came out on top in both 2008 and 2009.
It’s run over two eight-race semi finals with the two top teams then going through to a further eight-heat Final.
