COVENTRY Buildbase Bees finally came together as an all-round scoring unit - and the outcome was their biggest win of the season.
Eastbourne were the unfortunate visitors to be on the receiving end of a collective return to top form for several riders, as the Bees gained some revenge for a 56-39 defeat at Arlington earlier in the month.
Despite the one-sided nature of the final scoreline, it was also clear that the recent track work at Brandon has paid off, as this was the most entertaining meeting of the season racing-wise, with all of the home riders looking comfortable on the circuit. Krzysztof Kasprzak dropped just one point when he made a slight error to allow Matej Zagar through in Heat 1, but the Pole then reeled off four classy wins.
And the meeting also saw a dramatic resurgence from Edward Kennett, who won his first three rides against his old club - and Lewis Bridger was another ex-Eagle to star.
At reserve, Josh Auty put in a string of spectacular rides, including a tremendous double-overtake of Ricky Kling and Cameron Woodward in Heat 7, and he also overtook Eastbourne's best rider on the night, Simon Gustafsson, in his next outing. And Coventry's other three riders all won at least one race apiece, making this the perfect team performance.
The visitors suffered some bad luck when Zagar was forced to withdraw with a wrist injury having tangled with his team-mate Tomasz Jedrzejak in his second ride, but even with the Slovenian taking his three remaining rides it is doubtful that the Eagles would have threatened to salvage a point.
Bees boss Alun Rossiter said: "It's very pleasing, we know we have a talented team and that's what we should have been doing a lot more of. Tonight was the first time it's really clicked.
"I've been getting stuck-in to Edward and I don't really know what he's done differently but it's obviously worked, and that was the Edward Kennett of old.
"Our previous track curator Mick (Coleman) did a great job and I'd like to thank him for his efforts, but he couldn't commit full-time. We have Terry (Chrabaszcz) in full-time now, I think the results were there tonight and I'm sure it was a really good meeting to watch."
