KEVIN Little will be running in Edinburgh’s Half Marathon this Sunday (23rd) and he is doing it on behalf of the Speedway Riders’ Benevolent Fund.
The former star of the northern tracks hasn’t run this far before but he believes he can complete the course which runs through Edinburgh, starting at 8am, and finishes at Musselburgh Race Course.
“I’ve never run this far before but I did run a little bit while I was riding to keep fit. I’ve been having a go at it during the winter and getting more serious recently – I’ve got a lot of miles to do here!
“I was a bit coy to begin with, but I got to a point where I did 8 miles and I thought then – yes, I can do it. So I phoned Paul Ackroyd just recently and told him I’d do it for the Ben Fund, a chance to put a bit back.
“Anyone who wants can donate through the Ben Fund website, Paul has set that up.
“I thought I would like to make a few quid for the lads, so that’s what I am doing. I’m looking to do it in under 2 hours – I did ten miles last week and so that’s a target for me.
“I’ve got that thing back again, that commitment I had when I was racing, as if I had a meeting at the end of the week – the missus hates it!”
